Interesting timing — we are picking a vendor this month.

Explicit request, and the number came from the prospect.
The consented-callback layer for outbound
Assent reads your reply stream for an explicit callback request, dials the number the prospect gave, books the meeting, and files the consent record you would defend the call with. A positive reply is not enough. The request has to be explicit, and the record holds the sentence that proves it.
The seam
Email tools stop at the inbox. Voice tools start at a form. The gap between the two is where a prospect who asked to be called waits, and cools.
| platform | what it does with that reply |
|---|---|
| Instantly | The API exposes 34 resource groups. Not one of them is a call, dial, voice or SMS endpoint. The reply sits in the inbox until a person opens it. |
| Smartlead | There is a dialler, and it is human-operated. Someone has to be at the desk, read the reply, and press the button. |
| lemlist | Its AI summarises a call after the call has happened. Useful notes, but nothing in it places the call. |
| Voice agent platforms | They trigger on form fills and CRM records. An email reply is not an event they listen for, so the request never reaches a dialler. |
| Assent | The reply itself is the event. The gate reads it, the call goes out inside a minute, and the sentence that authorised it becomes the record. |
One lead
The same lead at both ends of the minute. Nothing in between needs a person to be at their desk.

Placed 41 seconds after the reply landed. Disclosed as an AI on the first turn, then straight to the diary.

Consent record filed with the verbatim request.
How it works
The gate is the part clients care about. It is cheaper to refuse a borderline reply than to explain one later.
Your sending platform posts the reply to an Assent webhook the moment it lands. No polling, no inbox to watch, no rep in the loop.
Two things must be true: the prospect explicitly asked to be called, and a number is present. A warm reply with no request is REFUSED, and the refusal is logged with its reason.
The call goes out to the number the prospect gave. The first turn states plainly that this is an automated AI assistant, and names who it is calling for. Then it books the meeting.
Basis, verbatim request, number authorised, disclosure version, every gate decision, and the call outcome — written once, immutable, exportable for a single lead or an audit window.
The record
Every call leaves a document like this one. It is what a client’s counsel reads before they approve automated calling, which is why it is written to be read by a lawyer rather than by a marketer.

Jurisdictions
Assent routes on the number, not on the campaign. Where a written request is enough, the call goes out. Where it is not, the prospect completes a form first.
| where | what the reply does | what Assent needs before dialling |
|---|---|---|
| EU / EEA and the UK | what the reply doesAssent treats an explicit written request to be called as the authorisation. A reply that is merely positive is not treated as one. | what Assent needs before diallingThe verbatim request and a number, both taken from the reply itself. The call proceeds. |
| United States (+1) | what the reply doesAssent never treats a reply as prior express written consent, however warmly it is worded. | what Assent needs before diallingA short signed form carrying all three elements the record needs: agreement to automated calls, the number to be called, and the business named. The call waits for it. |
Numbers outside these regions are held rather than guessed at. This describes how Assent behaves. It is not legal advice, and what your own programme needs is a question for your counsel.
Pricing
A booked call is a meeting in the diary that came from a prospect who asked to be called. Refused replies cost nothing, because they should not cost anything.

There is no free tier. Calls run in dry-run until you switch a live voice provider on, so you can watch the gate decide and read the records before a single number is dialled.
